Soft Tissue Flossing
Soft tissue flossing uses rubber bands to apply pressure over muscles and joints to help reduce pain, swelling, increase range of motion, and reduce healing time. This technique is great for strain/sprains and chronic extremity pain such as golfers elbow, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and knee pain.
About Soft Tissue Flossing
Also known as myofascial flossing or voodoo flossing, this technique is used to improve mobility and reduce pain in muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. It involves wrapping a specialized elastic band (“Rockfloss” in our practice) tightly around the affected area and performing specific movements to create compression and tension. This process helps to break up adhesions, increase blood flow, and promote the release of tight muscles.
Soft Tissue Flossing Uses
Beneficial for a variety of injuries and conditions, this method is commonly used to treat:
- Muscle Strains
- Tendonitis
- Joint Stiffness
- Scar Tissue
The technique can also help with conditions like:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Golfer’s Elbow
- IT band syndrome
- And Other Joint-Related Injuries
By improving tissue mobility and reducing inflammation, flossing can accelerate the healing process and prevent further injuries.
At Brown Chiropractic we incorporate Rockfloss into our treatment plans to complement other manual therapies. It may be used as a pre-adjustment technique to prepare the muscles and joints for manipulation. By reducing muscle tension and increasing range of motion, soft tissue flossing can enhance the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments.
